How do I add an MT4 account with IG?

How to add a live MT4 account:

  1. Login to My IG
  2. Select ‘add another account’
  3. Choose MetaTrader CFD.
  4. Check your email for your MT4 password
  5. Log in to the MT4 platform* with MT4 ID and password and choose IG-Live server to start trading on a live MT4 account, keeping all your chart data and analysis

Adding a demo MT4 account

You’ll need to download MT4 and create a demo account on the platform itself, as follows:

  1. Download MT4 for PC or Mac 
  2. Open MT4
  3. Click on ‘file’ on the top left corner of the platform 
  4. Select ‘open an account’  
  5. Choose ‘IG-DEMO’ as the trading server 
  6. Select ‘new demo account’  
  7. Enter your contact details and choose your currency
  8. A confirmation screen will display your login details. We recommend that you make a note of these details for future reference. Select ‘finish’ to start using your demo account. You can also find your login details in your MT4 Mailbox, located at the bottom of the platform.

Unfortunately, we can’t reset MT4 demo account passwords. Demo MT4 accounts will expire after 60 consecutive days of inactivity.


Demo accounts might not match live markets exactly. Demo accounts run in controlled environments, while the quick rise and fall of prices in live markets may cause slippage.
