How do I close a position?

IG Trading platform: All open positions will appear in the ‘positions’ tab on the left hand side of the platform. To close the deal click on the appropriate ‘close’ button on the same row. You will then need to confirm by clicking the highlighted ‘close’ button again.

If you have ‘1-click dealing’ enabled the ‘close’ button will automatically be green and only require one click.

Classic platform: All open positions will appear in the ‘Open Positions’ window. You may need to click the button at the top of the screen to bring up this window, or in some cases scroll down the page. To close a position click the market name, which will bring up a deal ticket. The appropriate direction and size will be highlighted, so confirm the deal by clicking buy or sell as required.
