You can deposit funds with your credit card, debit card, Apple Pay, PayPal account or via BPAY in Australia or EFT in New Zealand. Corporate account holders can only fund their account through BPAY or EFT.
Your IG account details (such as your name and address) need to match your bank account details as we don’t accept deposits made by a third party, or from a business card or PayPal account.
We currently do not accept funding via digital banks and brokers such as: Wise, Revolut, Interactive Brokers, Charles Schwab and Netwealth, etc.
How to make a deposit
Desktop
Log in to My IG on the desktop platform, and click on ‘Add funds’ next to the account you’d like to fund.
You can also open the web trading platform and click on the ‘Add funds’ button at the top of the screen.
Alternatively, click on the ‘Live accounts’ tab at the top of your My IG dashboard. Then choose the relevant account from the dropdown menu, click on ‘Deposit funds’ and select your preferred payment method.
Mobile
- Open the IG app on your iOS or Android device
- Click on ‘Account’ on the bottom right corner of the screen
- Select the relevant account
- Click on ‘Add funds’ to choose your preferred payment method.
Payment methods
Credit or debit card
When using this method, please make sure your card details match the name and address in your IG account. Successful payments are deposited immediately.
You can have up to three active cards on your account at a time. If you’ve reached your limit but want to add a new card, you’ll need to first remove one of them. You might need to attach some documents to help us verify your card before you can delink it.
Note that we cannot control card issuers' treatment of payments as cash advances or international transfers (for non-Australian cards).
Apple Pay
You can fund your account via Apple Pay, which enables you to use Face ID, fingerprint or passcode to authorize a card payment with your phone.
To add funds this way, go to 'Account', select ‘Payments’, then 'Add funds', and finally choose 'Apple Pay'.
Make sure you have the latest version of the IG app for this feature to work.
PayPal
You’ll need to make your deposit from a personal PayPal account that matches your IG account. We can’t allocate funds to a personal account using a business PayPal account.
When depositing via PayPal, click on the ‘PayPal’ button from the funding page, enter the amount you want to deposit and click on ‘Continue’. You’ll be directed to the PayPal site to complete the transaction.
Once you’ve deposited the funds, you’ll be automatically redirected to My IG.
After completing your first transaction, your PayPal account will be linked to your IG account. You can only link one PayPal account at a time.
If you want to use a different PayPal account held in your name, please contact us to unlink your current one.
BPAY for A$ payments in Australia
If you’d like to fund your account with A$ from an Australian bank account, you can do so via BPAY.
BPAY payments made before your bank's cut-off time should appear in your IG account within 1 working day, while payments made after the cut-off should appear within 2 working days. You can upload a proof of payment if you’d like to trade with the funds straight away.
You can find our IG Biller Code and your unique BPAY reference number in your My IG dashboard under ‘Live accounts’ > ‘Card/ bank details’ on desktop, or under ‘Account’ > ‘Add funds’ on the mobile app.
EFT payments in New Zealand
You can find our EFT details in your My IG dashboard under ‘Live accounts’ > ‘Card/bank details’ on desktop, or under ‘Account’ > ‘Add funds’ on the mobile app.
EFT payments can take up to 3 working days. You can upload a proof of payment if you’d like to trade with the funds straight away.
Always make sure to put your account ID and full name as a reference of the payment.
Foreign currency payments
To fund your account in a foreign currency, simply send a bank transfer quoting your IG account number as reference. These payments typically take 3 working days. We won't charge you for deposits, but SWIFT fees may apply. We may also require you to provide us with a bank statement to verify your deposit.
You can find our bank details in your My IG dashboard under ‘Live accounts’ > ‘Card/bank details’ on desktop, or under ‘Account’ > ‘Add funds’ on the mobile app.

We normally return money to the same card, bank or PayPal account from which we received it. Please note that we may request more information from you before returning your funds.
