How do I transfer my shares out of IG?

You can transfer your existing shares to another broker (broker-sponsored) or a registrar (issuer-sponsored). The process will vary from case to case, as shown in the scenarios below. The process will also differ if you are transferring a delisted stock to a registrar.

Transferring to another broker from IG (Broker-sponsored):

We don’t have a fee to transfer shares to another broker. This will need to be initiated by completing your receiving broker’s transfer request procedure. Your broker will provide you with the necessary forms.

If the transfer can be actioned, your broker will contact us on your behalf and you’ll be updated accordingly. Please contact them if you need assistance with this, and ensure you don’t place any orders on stocks you intend to move out.

Transferring to a registrar from IG (Issuer-sponsored)

There is a fee of A$50 per line of stock to transfer to a registrar, unless the stock has been delisted*. You can request to do so by sending an email to austransfers@ig.com from your registered email address stating the following:

  1. Your instruction to transfer shares to a registrar
  2. Your IG five digit account ID of the share dealing account you wish to transfer from
  3. Shares you wish to transfer
  4. Quantity of shares you wish to transfer
  5. Your Security Reference Number (SRN) if you wish to transfer an existing SRN

*Note for delisted stocks:

Most delisted stock transfers from IG to a registrar are processed free of charge, however in some cases fees may apply. If a fee is applicable, you will be notified beforehand.

To request a transfer of delisted shares, you’ll need to follow the same steps as an issuer-sponsored transfer. You’ll need to post copies of the following documents to Citigroup (address below). Normally these documents can be posted to us, but due to Covid-19 safety requirements they have to be posted directly to Citigroup.

  • For individuals:
  1. Certified ID copy
  2. Standard delisted stock transfer form from the registrar
  • For entities:
  1. Certified ID copies of the director(s)
  2. Standard delisted stock transfer form from the registrar
  3. Certificate of Registration (issued by ASIC or equivalent regulator) or licence (issued by a domestic or foreign regulator)

Once posted, please send your tracking number to austransfers@ig.com
