Streaming war: Warner Bros Discovery raises the stakes

Streaming wars heat up
The streaming battle is heating up. Warner Bros. Discovery is planning to offer live sports at no extra cost on its Max streaming service for a short period later this year. This is according to media outlets, including Bloomberg.
However, customers will have to pay an added cost for sports on the platform starting next year, says the report, citing people familiar with the matter.
All this comes at a crucial time when many players like Apple and Amazon are muscling in on a space that, if you remember, used to be monopolised by Netflix.
Sport is the new battleground
Now the new battleground is sport, and it's hoped that by offering bundles like we saw with Jio and Cricket, you can lure new subscribers in, or at least stop them from leaving.
