Week Ahead starting 8/5/23: BoJ minutes; BoE decision; US CPI; Disney, TUI, ASOS results
The Bank of England looks set to match the Fed and ECB’s quarter point rate increases. Plus, the consumer is back in focus with US inflation figures along with earnings from Disney, TUI, and ASOS.
Monday
The Bank of Japan minutes, business confidence numbers from Australia, German industrial production and US wholesale inventories are likely to dominate.
Tuesday
Then the UK swings into focus with retail sales, confidence figures out of Australia and trade balance figures from China.
Wednesday
The key market moving event on Wednesday is the inflation reading from the US. The EIA also unveils its crude oil inventory report.
Thursday
China publishes its latest consumer and producer price data.
Friday
Then we end the week with Q1 GDP growth, industrial and trade figures from the UK. The US also reports the latest snapshot of its imports and exports. Plus, watch out for a reading on US consumer sentiment.
