Designated investment exchange definition

A designated investment exchange is nominated by the issuer of a security as the exchange on which their security will be traded. They operate outside the UK, but work similarly to UK exchanges.

They are recognised under the Income Tax Act, though not by the FCA or HMRC. Stocks listed on designated investment exchanges nonetheless often meet HMRC requirements for tax wrappers, such as ISAs and SIPPS.
