When you’re opening your IG account, you’ll have to provide some ID verification documents. Uploading them doesn’t take long, and once they’re approved you can start trading.
We’ll normally need to see two documents, one showing proof of identity and one showing proof of address. You’ll be told exactly what documents you need to upload when you’re in the document uploader in MyIG.
To make sure your account opening goes smoothly, use our guide below on which documents you can use and how to make sure they’re uploaded in an acceptable format.
The following photo IDs are our most commonly accepted forms of proof of identity:
If your ID is double-sided, be sure to provide a photo of both sides.

Whichever proof of address document you upload, please ensure:
When uploading your proof of identity and address, make sure that all the information is visible and that it isn’t obscured by your hands, or any reflection from the camera flash.
Double check that the image is not blurred or out of focus.
And make sure that all relevant pages/sides of your chosen documents are included.
If you’re using a bank statement or bank account as your proof of address, we do accept screenshots from your online banking system. Just make sure the screenshot includes your name and personal account details, as well as the issuing bank’s details.
