Ways to invest in or trade ESG shares and ETFs with us
With ESG investing and trading, you can get exposure to shares and ETFs in the following ways:
Share trading
Invest in physical shares and receive dividends (if offered by the company)
CFDs
Buy or sell contracts based on whether you think a market’s price will rise or fall
Investing vs trading company and ETF shares
With us, you’ll use a share trading account when investing in companies or ETFs. As the owner of the physical shares, you’d be a shareholder with the right to receive dividends (if offered). In addition to this possible income, you could also make a profit if you sell your shares for more than the original buy price. But if you sell them at a lower price, you’d incur a loss. So, you may get back less than the amount you committed, but any losses are capped at the your total initial outlay (excluding additional fees).
Since you’ll be using CFDs to trading company or ETF shares with us, you’ll trade with leverage. This means that your initial outlay is decreased significantly compared to investing as you’ll only need a deposit, known as margin, to open your position while getting full exposure. Leverage magnifies both possible profits and losses. Therefore, it’s vital that you manage your risk appropriately.

What is ESG investing and trading?
ESG investing and trading focuses on environmental, social, and corporate governance factors, which help to measure a company’s sustainability and societal impact.
A focus on ESG is considered to add value to a company with a likely increase in longevity.
ESG investing and trading enables you to buy and sell, or take a position on the share price movements of assets where environmental, social and governance factors are measured and compared.
There’s been a trend of companies driving positive change actively through ESG that’s grown tremendously. These companies go beyond just making a profit – they are committed to shaping a better, more sustainable future. By investing in them, you’d be supporting their efforts and eventual societal impacts.
