Trading vs investing in 5G

Trading and investing are similar terms that are sometimes used interchangeably – but there are some important differences between them.

‘Trading’ lets you speculate on the price of a 5G stock or ETF rising (‘buy’) or falling (‘sell’) using derivatives like CFDs. These are leveraged, which means you can get full market exposure for an initial deposit – which is called margin. But, leverage can increase both your profits and your losses – so you should take steps to manage your risk before you trade.

‘Investing’ means that you’re taking direct ownership of a 5G stock or ETF to benefit from prices rising. Leverage isn’t available when you invest, so you’ll need to commit the full cost of the position upfront. But, this means that your maximum risk is capped at this initial cost.

  • Technical analysis uses chart patterns, technical indicators and historical price action to attempt to predict future price movements
  • Fundamental analysis is based on the fundamentals of a company or wider macroeconomic factors, including net revenue, profit and loss statements or interest rates
