AMD share price: what to expect from Q1 results
The chipmaker has lowered guidance for its Q1 earnings report.
When is AMD’s results date?
American Micro Devices(AMD)’s Q1 earnings will be released on April 30.
AMD results preview: what does the company expect?
The chipmaker company’s Q4 revenue was better-than-expected because of increased sales of AMD’s central processing units (CPU’s). However, AMD's Q1 revenue was predicted by the corporation to drop by 12% to $1.25 billion because of an oversupply of the company’s graphics cards.
Gaming magazine Gamers Nexus reported that AMD was dominant in March, selling 80% of all CPU’S. AMD’s Q1 earnings may also increase after being chosen as the graphic processing unit (GPU) provider for the new Sony PlayStation 5 gaming system.
AMD’s Q1 revenue may also be boosted by anticipation of new Ryzen microprocessors. AMD expects that the company will add 30% more Ryzen notebook systems in 2019. AMD touted the new microprocessor as being able to adapt to any use by customers.
‘The Ryzen Embedded R1000 can support rich multimedia environments for digital displays and casino gaming, enterprise-class security features for edge computing, networking and thin clients, and, most importantly introduces a new class of performance while providing customers with software and hardware compatibility with the extended Ryzen Embedded family,’ said AMD in a statement.
How to trade AMD Q1 results
Wall Street said a series of product announcements and increased sales of CPU’s may help AMD’s Q1 revenue. Even with a predicted decline in revenue, financial analysts expect AMD’s Q1 profits to be solid and consider AMD stock to be a buy.
