CenturyLink sets up first Southeast Asian security operations centre in Singapore
The Singapore office is the second of such a facility in Asia for CenturyLink, after India.
United States-headquartered communications and data services player CenturyLink has launched its first security operations centre in Singapore on Thursday to cater to the growing demand from customers in the Asia-Pacific region.
CenturyLink said in a statement it aims to offer its customers in the region a greater ability to predict, protect, and respond to internal and external threats through the firm’s network-based security solutions.
The Singapore office is the second of such a facility in Asia for CenturyLink, after India. The firm’s global security operations centres track over 114 billion NetFlow sessions on a daily basis. The centres also respond to and mitigate about 120 distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks per day.
According to the firm’s 2018 Threat Report, countries such as China, South Korea, and Vietnam, are the most popular targets of malicious cyber activity in the Asia-Pacific region.
“With the launch of our security operations centre in Singapore today, enterprises are better protected through our comprehensive methodology of people, process and technology to tackle an ever-evolving threat landscape and help secure their digital futures.” CenturyLink's Asia-Pacific vice-president of product management Francis Thangasamy said.
CenturyLink’s shares closed on Wednesday 1.27% or US$0.20 lower, at US$15.99. Pre-market activity was flat, as the stock was up by 0.06%.
